Lionel graduated “with honors” in Fine Arts / Art Deco on Design+Architecture.
He holds an Advanced Master’s degree with honors in Computational Design & Architecture / Multimedia-Hypermedia from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris.
His educational journey also includes degrees from Harvard Graduate School of Design, Princeton University (Art of Structural Engineering), and MIT (Site Planning).

After working as an Art Director and International Design Manager for major corporations in Europe, Lionel founded his startup, SCHARLY DESIGNER STUDIO®, in 2007.
He served as an Adjunct Lecturer and Professor at a university in Paris, and directing theses at MIT.
Today, he contributes as a peer reviewer for the AIA Convention in the United States and a Lecturer in Architecture for The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
